La Métairie is a building constructed in 1902, initially used as a farm. Around 1980, it was converted into a craft brewery. In 1998, the restaurant underwent a complete renovation, followed in 2015 and 2022 by a modernisation of the inn.
Wanne, like many villages in the Ardennes, suffered terrible hardships during the world wars. The violent fighting of the Second World War, particularly the Battle of the Bulge, left deep scars in the collective memory of the inhabitants and shaped the landscape of this region. These tragic events remind us of the importance of preserving local history and respecting the generations who lived through these difficult times.
Wanne Castle is a remarkable building whose date of construction remains unknown. For centuries, it was the residence of the mayor of Wanne. From 1560 to 1665, it belonged to the Metternich family, who also owned Reinhardstein Castle at the same time. In 1712, Baron Waha de Bayonville undertook its reconstruction. Later, the Jean-François Massange family became the owners. The castle suffered heavy damage during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. Acquired by the municipality of Trois-Ponts in 1965, it was converted into a stopover gîte.
This charming 12th-century bell tower is part of the parish church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine. The church was renovated and enlarged in 1845. However, a century later, it was severely damaged during the events of December 1944.
This museum has its origins in an initial establishment created by Jules Hurdebise in the village of Logbiermé. Since 2001, it has been housed in the former boys' school in Wanne, a building constructed in 1866. At the time, the establishment consisted of a single classroom and the teacher's accommodation. The school closed in 1975, and the family of the last teacher left the premises in 1995. It was then that the municipality of Trois-Ponts refurbished the building to house the museum.
